The theme school concept was the brainchild of Dr. Fannie H. Tartt. It was designed by the DeKalb County School District in 1996 for the following reasons:
-to relieve overcrowding in surrounding school,
-to offer parents a choice of educationa programming,
-to provide diversity of education opportunities for students.
Dr. Fannie Tartt credits most of the traditional theme school education concepts to programs created by Dr. Marva Collins and her mentor, Mrs. Narvie Jordan Harris. Narvie J. Harris was proud to be part of the Fannie H. Tartt Traditional Theme School programming.
